The Global Ocean Accounts Partnership (GOAP) welcomes Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences as its newest Member.
Bigelow Laboratory is an independent, nonprofit research institute based in East Boothbay, Maine, United States. Its scientists conduct research from the Arctic to the Antarctic, using innovative approaches to study the foundations of global ocean health and address environmental challenges.
Its work spans marine ecosystems, ocean processes and ocean health, with a strong focus on advancing scientific understanding and developing solutions to challenges facing the ocean and the wider planet.
Deborah Bronk, President and CEO of Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, welcomed the new membership:
“Bigelow Laboratory is thrilled to be a part of GOAP and the community working to transcend political boundaries to build a sustainable blue economy that will help us tackle today’s global challenges.” — Deborah Bronk
Through GOAP, Bigelow Laboratory joins a global network of governments, research institutions and organisations working to strengthen ocean knowledge and support ocean-based sustainable development. Bigelow Laboratory’s expertise in ocean science will contribute to GOAP’s broader work to strengthen understanding of the connections between ocean ecosystems, people and economies, while supporting collaboration across the partnership.
GOAP looks forward to working with Bigelow Laboratory and welcoming its contribution to the partnership.
