About the package (guide and inventory)
The Global Ocean Asset Data Guide provides practical support to countries for the use of global data on ocean assets in developing national ocean accounts. It supports a Global Ocean Asset Data Inventory that updates an initial inventory produced by UN ESCAP and GOAP in 2019. The Guide aims to enable national ocean accounts compilers to make informed decisions on the use of global ocean datasets that are varied in quality, accessibility and purpose.
The updated Inventory and accompanying Guide are part of the technical support provided by GOAP for the advancement of ocean accounting. Both are aligned with GOAP's Technical Guidance on Ocean Accounting and with the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting produced under the auspices of the United Nations Statistics Division.
